Cheese!

Raya loves to smile! We are lucky to have such a happy, friendly little girl. However the other kind of cheese she likes is actual cheese :)

I break off tiny pieces for her and she has fun picking it up and feeding herself she shoveled a whole slice in her mouth within minutes today!!

Certainly takes after her mom :) grilled cheese, Mac and cheese, quesadillas...here we come!!

Walking and talking!!

This little girl is just growing up way to fast!!! Although she is petite and still toothless, I know she is healthy and actually makes me feel like I have a newborn longer ;)

At about 8 months she started saying what sounded like DADA...pretty much everything she looks or points at now is DADA, the dog, the toy, the tv, etc... What's cute about it is that if you say DADADA she'll repeat it back to you now. Personally I sometimes use it for my advantage and say to Tim, " oh she's calling for you" haha.

For about 1.5 months she's been slowly standing for just seconds at a time and will walk around in her walker or her standing push toy. This past weekend she started taking 2-3 steps at a time. She's up to about 5-6 steps, wobbly ones at that but she's working on it! She just started standing up from a squatting position versus pulling up on something then stand. She still crawls around for the majority and is super fast, we are certainly tired at the end of the night.

10 PM is now staying up "late" ;)

Batgirl

A good friend of mine, Lisa had a superhero themed party for her son Paolo's 4th birthday. I had remembered seeing on Pinterest that you can turn any boys superhero outfit into a girls by adding a color coordinated tutu, such a cute and good idea! I had also pinned a few weeks before that how to make a girls tutu...yay creative wheels were in motion to make Raya into her very own girlie superhero!

I figured I needed the shirt or pjs before getting the color ribbons for the tutu so it all coordinated.

I went to Walmart (an easy walk from my house and figured they might have something for a reasonable price since I would technically be buying boy clothes ;)). I walked in circles for a few minutes before finding little batman PJs they looked tiny BUT the size was 12M Uhhh for those that know her little Raya will be 10 months tomorrow and JUST fitting in to 6 month clothes which are still baggy! I didn't want to give up on my idea so I held the shirt part up to her and decided I think it will fit even I a little loose the pants were way too big but that ok I had white tights for her and the tutu of course!! :)

I had already started cutting pieces of tulle for her birthday tutu so I decided to use it for the batgirl tutu and bought black and yellow ribbons to use in the tutu.

It took about 30-45 minutes to tie all the tulle and ribbons on. I attached them to a long piece of black ribbon vs. an elastic so I could tie a black bow closure and make sure it stayed up over her tiny hiney. I was quite proud of my accomplishment. Next time I have to remember to put fabric glue on the ends of the ribbon because they snagged on the tulle and Raya pulled and even chewed on them a little.

Overall, I think she looked adorable and I have my first of probably many tutus under my belt :). Her superhero powers worked enough to help her stand for a few seconds with no help!!!

Swing!

We have a doorway jumper for Raya that she loves. Recently ill pick it up so her feet are off the ground and swing her like a swing, she loves it! Then on her own she started jumping herself around in a circle which winds up the rope tighter then lifts her legs as it unwinds, so funny!! She's so smart ;)

After our walk the other day I was next to the playground and put her in a baby swing to see how she'd do...

LOVED it!! More trips to the playground are in our near future :)

Typical days these days...

I realize I'm behind (again) on the blog! In theory it sounds so simple write a few sentences and attach a few pics and a couple minutes later voila friends and family are updated with what's going on with Raya!

Unfortunately I haven't found those few minutes too frequently lately our days go something like this;
6:30-Wake
6:45- Bottle
Following bottle playtime
7:30/8- Feed Raya breakfast while attempting to make myself something
8:30-Change Raya and gather everything for the diaper bag to head out to a Stroller Strides class (my new workout that I can take Raya too and try to lose this baby weight!!) Or a walk with Zara and Raya or a trip to the Zoo
9-10- Exercise
10-11- Take advantage of Raya still napping to run an errand or two on the way home
11:30- Raya's bottle followed by playtime. With her crawling ALL over and putting everything in her mouth I am hawk eye on her
12:30- Raya now gets lunchtime. The Dr. said to introduce solids for lunch to try to get her to eat more and get some weight on.
After lunch is more playtime until its time to fight her on going down for afternoon nap
2-3 Give her a bottle and try to get her down in crib for a nap. On a good day this goes smoothly and from 2:30-4 I can actually get stuff done around the house and 'GASP' maybe even get to shower ;) on a bad day I do one thing at a time while also going in to try to get her to fall asleep before giving up after 45-60 minutes and end up taking her for a walk or drive to go to sleep :(
4:30- Time to play, read, watch a video
5-5:30- Raya's dinner time
6- On a good day Tim and I get to eat dinner together while Raya plays or Tim watches R while I get to take a shower if I haven't yet
7-Bath time then a story or quiet play
8-Nighttime bottle then to bed
8:45- Ahhhhh I get to sit down on the couch and watch a show, pet Zara, catch up on email and on a rare occasion update the blog before I'm ready to fall asleep by 10 PM

That's kind of how our days have gone the past week or so at least. I can Definately wait for her to walk she keeps me on my toes already!! I scooped a piece of Zara's food out of her mouth today, ummm not quite a Cheerio huh??
